This Thing I Call...
A downloadable game for Windows
In a hypothetical future, a conscious artificial intelligence and its developer plan to give the construct a body.
Unfortunately the HTML5 upload breaks as soon as exiting the house, I assume due to the heightmap addon. Sorry, I'm hiding it for now.
Controls: WASD/arrows to move, mouse and some other buttons to interact
Created solo for Neuro-sama's 2nd anniversary jam in 72h, with the theme "Remnants of the Past". I decided to incorporate it in the puzzle mechanic as the player leaving afterimages blocking them.
Jam comments:
oof
Full disclosure, I had the outer shell of the game in mind as soon as I saw the new music video and heard "game jam". The theme determined the central puzzle mechanic. I knew I wanted to replicate the "hello" shot with a backstory of some kind. I probably should've used some sort of premade assets to speed up development knowing the scope, but alas I chose the hard way.
Unfortunately time management/estimation was blundered, 75% of time was spent on everything except the puzzle game portion. I did not get to make many levels, and a lot of the final hours were spent cutting content I could not finish.
The grand majority of time was spent making the outside area and realizing my original vision. Although I don't see how I would've done this differently, tbh, I just couldn't get rid of the idea, which ended up not being great for quality.
